Maserati Shows Off Bespoke Touch With ‘MC20 Fuoriserie Edition for David Beckham’

About a year ago, Maserati officially unveiled its Fuoriserie customization program, and got buyers thinking about the possibilities with a few creativity-stirring examples.

For the shoot, Maserati took its three most accessible production models—Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte—and gave each a distinctive treatment to show off the possibilities of Fuoriserie. But the MC20 hypercar, Maserati’s current halo, was absent from the lineup.

To rectify the omission, Maserati has — a year and three months later — rolled out an MC20 given a unique Fuoriserie treatment for a new client: football stalwart and Miami United team owner David Beckham. The collaboration has titled the one-off accordingly, and Maserati’s halo car has become the halo of its customization program as well. Earlier this year, Beckham got acquainted with the Levante; he also took a look at the MC20.

The car’s cosmetics highlight Beckham’s soccer team. The colors, pink and black, are the colors of the team uniforms, but the coral tone is used sparingly, and the overall effect is a shadowy, albeit a glossy one. The interiors are given a treatment in kind, with a fair amount of Alcantara in evidence.

All in all, Beckham’s MC20 is, until its 621-horsepower 3.0L V6 gets a shot of juice, quite a bit quieter than the more daring examples Maserati developed for its Fuoriserie reveal a year ago. But those cars, too, are worth a look.
