For 2022, Ducati has added the DesertX to its production lineup. The model, inspired by Dakar racing, brings together an off-road build and an ergonomic design. Its look recalls heritage designs, but is quite contemporary, with a form-follows-function minimalism.
The DesertX comes with the newest version of Ducati’s 937cc Testastretta, which has dropped over three pounds of weight. The engine’s gear ratio has been optimized for the DesertX’s preferred terrain.
But the DesertX is a surprisingly versatile bike. The model is designed with six riding modes; Enduro and Rally handle off-road, while Sport, Touring, Urban and Wet expand the usage profile of the motorcycle.
In the DesertX windshield, LED DRLs that have been subbed for traditional headlamps, part of an overall LED lighting system. The bike’s other tech features include a 5-inch touchscreen—which has been situated for best visuals when the rider is standing, of course.
The Ducati DesertX will be in dealerships in late spring or early summer of the coming year. It will come with a MSRP of $16,795.
