In the days before Thanksgiving, TV content creator Steve Levitan accepted an offer on the Malibu beach house he’s had up for sale or rent for the past few years. The house closed at $14.174 million. Levitan listed it initially last year, asking $15.995 million, and offered it as a rental at $60K per month about two years before that. He’d owned it for nearly two decades when it changed hands.
The house is a monster—its living spaces are distributed across six levels, amounting to 8,072 sq. ft. total. The property contains six bedrooms and seven baths in all, including a 1,400 sq. ft. three-room master with a deck, gym, ‘fireplace retreat’ and spa-inspired bathroom, as well as a trio of detached guest suites.
The property was built in 1995, and the architecture looks it—as a postmodern statement, this house has the beachside eccentricity of an elder Hamptons shingle-style, with the playful coloration and industrial and modern riffs of its build era. The great room is sheer successful-exec Malibu Broad Beach-front one-upmanship, represented most aptly in the 2,500 sq. ft. great room.
