It’s been two years since Ferrari rolled out the Roma. The new model’s rounded, muscular lines and graceful fastback made it something of an instant classic. During the interim, German tuning shop Novitec, a Ferrari specialist, has been quietly toiling away on an enhancement kit for the model.
A careful gander at the Roma might suggest that a tuner would have a tough time improving the model, at least as far as looks are concerned. But in their chosen niche, Novitec’s guiding spirits are unusually circumspect, and the kit’s exterior touches to the Roma are fairly subtle. 21-inch and 22-inch Vossen/Novitec wheels and a slick naked carbon aero kit that includes a new front spoiler and grille are the highlights.
Underneath the surface, the Novitec treatment for the Roma include changes to the model’s engine management, including the addition of Novitec’s N-TRONIC module and performance catalysts. The Ferrari’s native 3.9L V8 gets a power boost of 84 horsepower, bringing its output to 704 HP; the Novitec-enhanced Roma can hit 62 MPH in 3.2 seconds. Novitec’s hydraulic front lift system and sport springs are also available for the model.
