Bugatti Shows Off ‘Sur Mesure’ Customization Program With Bespoke Chiron Pur Sport Grand Prix

Like other luxury automakers, Bugatti has a customization division that can make the four-wheeled dreams of well-heeled clients a reality.

Some clients, like the person who commissioned the Bugatti Voiture Noire, can afford to spend well north of $10 million on a mercurial mechanical lark. Bugatti formalized a program to take such requests, and they’ve named it Sur Mesure. The phrase means made to measure, the French equivalent of English bespoke. Bien sur. But with the suggestion of couture.

Although it’s likely Sur Mesure can handle pavement-up designs, its workaday job will be adjusting existing models to taste — to one degree or another. Bugatti has taken the ribbons off a custom Chiron Pur Sport which will stand as the Sur Mesure halo car until the next big spender comes down the pike.

The custom Chiron is a track-inspired car akin to the 1930s Type 51 driven to glory in Grand Prix races in France and Monaco by the recent model’s namesake, the legendary driver Louis Chiron. The sky-blue color matches M. Chiron’s racing livery, and the number 32 references the car he used for his win in France.
