The Beverly Hills home of legendary movie star and stage actor Kirk Douglas reached the open market this month with an asking price of $7.495 million. The 1921-built 4,648 sq. ft. house in the Flats was the primary residence of Douglas and his wife Anne Buydens over three decades.

For Hollywood history buffs and Tinseltown devotees, the property’s primary amenity will likely be the personal ‘Walk of Fame’ where Douglas and Buydens documented the industry’s Golden Age community by inviting luminaries to sign garden tiles for posterity. The .35 acres of grounds are exceedingly private, with paths connecting the main house, two-level guest house, and pebble-crete pool area.

The interiors of the four-bed main house are relatively modest. Tile, tongue-and-groove, plank oak, louvered doors, built-ins and French doors all appear by turns or together. In the guest house, a brick floor adds additional texture to the little estate, with sliding glass opening the living area to the pool and patio.

Douglas passed away last year. Over the course of his career, he appeared in more than 90 films including Champion, Spartacus, The Bad and the Beautiful, and Lust for Life. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor three times, but never won.
