Photographer and fashion designer Hedi Slimane recently saw his striking 1961-built Beverly Hills modern into the rearview. The Celine creative director initially listed the 4,562 sq. ft. residence in Trousdale Estates for $17 million back in 2019.
The house was designed by Rex Lotery. Its design incorporates a complex water feature at entry, with the steel frame of the structure setting up a unique open area; as a preamble to reaching the double front doors, the front steps and entrance landing cross over water.
Terrazzo floors run throughout the shared living spaces, while polished concrete is used in the five bedrooms. The interiors are spare, nearly monastic, with light and space combining with the midcentury materials to express the living style. Amenities include a sauna.
A roughcast patio and pool area in back, and a broad lawn in front, occupy most of the .46-acre lot. The property’s landscaping uses tropical plantings, including banana trees, to set the scene.
