Triumph Reveals Limited Special Editions

Triumph’s motorcycles have always been more appealing than the average motorized sled. The venerable firm’s latest limited-ed models — which are, variously, homage to power, racing, and the two-wheeled soul of London — are perhaps prettier than most.

The Special Edition bikes collectively represent a spectrum of British bike heritage that includes the café racers and a legendary run by rider Malcolm Uphill, the East End leather jacket crowd, and an innovation that furthered motorcycle design.

The foxiest of the lot is undoubtedly the Malcolm Uphill- and café-racer-inspired Thruxton RS Ton Up Special Edition. The bike features a tank in Aegean blue, which contrasts with the silver, black and brass at work elsewhere.

Others in the series include the performance-inspired 221 Special Edition, which sports bright red and Sapphire Black, and the 2.5L three-cylinder from the R and GT Rocket 3 bikes. The Street Twin EC1 Special Edition features a shadowy color scheme of silver and black, and is the resident Eastender of the bunch.

Triumph’s special releases in the past 18 months include James Bond editions of the Scrambler 1200 and Tiger 900.
