Residential renovator Meg Ryan’s most recent project came and went with remarkable rapidity. The actress purchased the property, according to public records, in early February 2020, and paid only a little over five million dollars for it. A revision ensued, and back up for sale went the four-bedroom, four-bath house, closing recently for $13.3 million.
The 1990’s-vintage farmhouse has been altered in keeping with Ryan’s style. She’s got a sharp eye for finishes, and when considering a replacement for some of the home’s wide-plank floors chose marble tiles in a honed finish; an irregular laying of gray and white adds an element of whimsy to the shared spaces. Elsewhere, plank hardwood remains, in a more lustrously dark finish. Other textural touches include muted wall covering that’s nearly jacquard.
The home has been brightened as well, and the ceiling trusses, formerly black, have been given a lick of white paint. Other changes include the addition of steel-framed windows and doors, and the trading out of the living room’s stone fireplace accent wall with a less conspicuous design: a simple white-painted masonry affair with a screen that looks Moroccan.
The house sits on a 1.51-acre lot, and features a pool, a small orchard, and an organic garden.
