Legendary San Francisco-scene psychedelic jazz guitarist Carlos Santana has been somewhat busy with Hawaii-area real estate wheeling and dealing over the past year or so. The elder statesman of jam has owned several properties on Kauai, the Garden Isle, an Edenic (well, if it wasn’t for the giant centipedes) landscape of green tones surrounded by blue water that has remained fairly quiet over the years.

The latest Kauai property owned by Santana to appear in the real estate news is a home in the resort community of Princeville, which the musician listed this autumn. The four-bedroom single-level island rambler measures in at 4,386 sq. ft., and sits on a lot of .3 acres. It hit the market last month at $4.795 million; an offer came in within 24 hours.

To enhance the natural beauty of the location, some of the property’s landscaping elements — water features and plantings — hug the entrance, where pocketing glass opens to the island generously, creating a single living area and an effective sense of continuation. The interiors of the house feature lots of natural texture in hardwood and stone, as well as plentiful glass, and the generous ceiling heights afforded by a single-level home.

The bedrooms are all en-suite, and each features a private lanai. An infinity pool and spa, situated near the central lanai, capitalizes on the striking views from the property; the location is near Queen Emma’s Bluff.

Other Kauai properties owned at one time or another by Carlos Santana during the past decade include a Bay Area home he just sold for $5.5 million, a Pacific Island-inspired house that listed this past summer for $12.9 million, and the house that is likely his personal retreat in the 50th State: another, larger rambler in Princeville which the guitarist purchased for $20.5 million back in July.

Santana and his band are currently in the middle of a residency at The House of Blue at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas; they hit the road next summer in support of their latest release, Blessings and Miracles. The album, a broad-ranging effort with noted musical guests, was generally well received.
