German luxury automotive tuning shop Klassen branches out into the design and building of custom dreams — and the fabrication of the tools necessary to realize them — and has a hand in developing vehicles for water as well as land. The company also offers armored vehicles, and the latest in its stable of ballistics-resistant conveyance designs is a customization of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
The foundation of the protection sheathing this hardy Cullinan is an ‘innovative lightweight’ material that is as of now unknown; graphene could be in there somewhere, possibly with some carbon fiber for shaping and heat resistance and some old-fashioned Kevlar as well. The Cullinan offers occupants BR6 protection, and can handle the blast from a pair of hand grenades.
Among the armoring features: reinforced suspension and door hinges, multi-layer bullet-resistant glass, fire suppression, emergency lights and a siren-PA-intercom system. Other details include a tire pressure loss warning indicator, bi-xenon headlamps, and central locking with remote control. Luxury touches include ambient LED lighting, multimedia and audio systems, and custom upholstery.
Klassen’s lead time for a custom ballistic-protected Cullinan is about six months. The sticker price: just shy of a million.
Klassen’s no stranger to working with the Cullinan; back in 2018, the firm turned it into a $2 million armored stretch limo.
