Billionaire Kanye West Looking to Sell 3,888-Acre Wyoming Ranch for $11M

A Wyoming property surfaced on the open market recently, and fueled speculation and rumor as it did so. The large ranch known as ‘Monster Lake’ is currently owned by musician and tastemaker Kanye West, who paid $14 million for it in the late summer of 2019. It returns with an $11 million asking price.

The loss represented by the disparity may be the result of West keeping a significant portion of the property’s acreage. When West took ownership two years ago, the property’s listing detailed a total acreage of 9,100; the current listing has it at 3,800. If listing information was and is accurate, West isn’t prepared to move out of the area lock, stock and barrel quite yet. After all, he still owns a second ranch in the general vicinity, which he purchased for $14 million about two months after the first—and it’s only about 80 miles away.

In any case, nearly 4,000 acres of so-called ‘Monster Lake Ranch’ is back on the market, and perhaps beckoning to those who crave getting away from it all…or angling. The ranch’s name finds its origins not in its overall size, but rather the size of the trout that can be fished out of its lake. Along with the promise of the one that didn’t get away come a series of structures with accommodations that include 27 bedrooms.

Along the way are a restaurant and lounge, equestrian and livestock facilities, teepees, and a covered BBQ pit.

West has sold over 160 million records worldwide. His most recent studio release, Donda, came out in August and shot to the top of the Billboard 200 chart; it’s his tenth consecutive number-one album.

West’s net worth is around $1.8 billion, according to Forbes.
