An armchair with a red carpet built right in is for sale for $19,200.
The furniture piece is titled Osforth. As an example of a throne, it is peculiarly understated; a simple frame of brushed brass, or a similar alloy, is used to suggest the gilded side of life.
The carpet extends from the chair’s functional utility like a playfully grandiose extension. The textile is bamboo silk, making the chair both pleasing to the touch and acceptably sustainable. There’s velvet involved in the material as well; you can’t really have a throne without it.
The furniture piece will be limited to just 33 examples before being consigned to regal history.
