A monolithic modern beach house in Malibu surfaced on the open market this month with an asking price of $14.995 million. The property is being sold by musician and songwriter Pink; she’s owned the 1976-built house below the Malibu Bluffs since June of this year.

The 4,320 sq. ft. house sits on a .15-acre lot, and makes the most of its setting by establishing eminently usable outdoor living areas in front and in back; on the street side, it begins with a leisurely courtyard entry, and facing the water is a terrace above a seawall that’s unusually large and protected by a glass balustrade. The main home’s five bedrooms are augmented with a detached guest house positioned near the street.

The interiors of the house show signs of a recent remodel. Flat-finished hardwood predominates inside, grounding the sense of space provided by the abundant glass—especially the soaring panes and clerestory windows that survey the ocean from the rear of the home—as well as the white paint and two-story ceilings. More appealing spaces include the dayroom, which opens to saline breezes by way of a sliding door in a wall of glass, and the master suite, which features a pair of closets and a bath with a freestanding tub.

On the beach side of the home, upper level balconies expand the outdoor living area. But the courtyard makes a convincing argument for forgoing the pleasures of oceanfront every now and then in favor of a more secluded lifestyle.

Pink has sold over 100 million records worldwide. Her most recent studio release is 2019’s Hurts 2B Human.
