Feature film and television producer Brad Simpson is the new owner of a Los Angeles-area charmer. He paid $4.5 million for it, according to Dirt; the final price registers a stout $300,000 above the asking price. The 1923-built house is designed in the style of an English country cottage, and features a roofline and a pair of eyebrow flourishes that give it a near-storybook feel from a streetside perspective.
Inside the 4,507 sq. ft. residence, the eye is greeted with original narrow-plank oak, a curving staircase, and a semi-rotunda dayroom at the other side of the structure. As the home develops, a series of fine touches emerge; highlights include the malachite-green marble living room fireplace and the casement windows that flank it, and the leaded glass windows in the dining room.
The .31-acre lot is landscaped in a lush sensibility, with riotous flora edging into the lawns; the outdoor living space is marvelously secluded, and the city should fall into the background nicely upon arriving at this five-bedroom beauty at the end of a long day.
