Last week, actress Renée Zellweger put her 2002-built Spanish ranch near Topanga State Park up for sale for a whisker under $6 million. The property spans 9.79 acres of sylvan grounds, and is anchored by a rambling single-story home that contains four bedrooms and five baths across 4,414 sq. ft. of interior living space.

A fairly recent rebuild resulting in a Spanish-style that’s faithful in spirit, the home’s design does a fine job of marrying the evocative period details of a 1920’s example with contemporary tastes in layout and comfort. The acreage allows for a leisurely avenue that sets the stage: a meandering driveway lined with oaks.

The home’s notable features and materials include the abundance of French doors and sliding glass doors, exposed ceiling timber, stone fireplaces, and Venetian plaster.
