A house in New Jersey comes to the open market by way of The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga. The Jersey girl listed the property this week with an asking price of $2.895 million.
It was about ten months ago that Gorga and her husband finally bade adieu to their charming estate in the Garden State’s Montville Township. The couple initially listed the mansion, which features architecture inspired by European county homes, in 2017; they were hoping for $3.5 million. In December of last year the property finally changed hands, closing at $2.5 million.
The house in question is a waterfront retreat in Tom’s River. The property’s peninsula location and 165 feet of frontage on Barnegat Bay are compelling features, and the house comes with a dock and a powerboat slip for warm weather waterborne getaways. The lot measures in at a generous .4 acres, enough room for a swimming pool and a large outdoor living area with covered and uncovered sections overlooking the briny.
The 3,500 sq. ft. home features a façade with a covered porch and stone accents. Inside the house, an understated design sensibility frames the living style, but there’s a little flash going on; the main living area gets an extravagant chandelier which dresses things up quite a bit. But for the most part this is a relaxed summer spot, and the kitchen’s simplicity — white cabinetry, a bit o’ stainless, and tops for counters and island that look to be Corian — sets the tone generally, while a two-sided fireplace and curving staircase add coziness. A glass slider accesses the outdoor living area.
The home’s seven bedrooms make this house a solid choice for owners with summer guests. The layout includes a master with skylights and a sitting area.
