Kanye West bought heavily into Malibu to close out the summer, spending over $57 million on a beach house designed by prominent Japanese architect and Pritzker Prize-winner Tadao Ando.

West, who officially became a billionaire last year, purchased the property from financier Richard Sachs. The house was initially offered for sale by Sachs in the first half of 2020, when it asked $75 million.

The postmodern abode merges modern and industrial styles, with heavy use of architectural concrete, steel and glass. It was completed in 2013, and features an imposing streetside façade and a glassy ocean side with pivoting doors opening to outdoor living spaces.

The house contains four bedrooms and features 3,665 sq. ft. of interior living space across three levels; the top floor is the master, which opens to a large terrace.

West released his 10th studio album last month. Titled Donda, it shot straight to the top of the Billboard 200 chart. All his previous studio releases topped the chart, save one; The College Dropout, his debut release, peaked at number two.

West’s net worth is around $2 billion, according to Forbes.
