Land Rover’s newest Defender V8 finds inspiration in Ian Fleming’s famous defender of adolescent male fantasy, James Bond. Land Rover’s revised Defender could use the advertising muscle of a Broccoli extravaganza, and it apparently receives it in the upcoming film, No Time to Die. The model gets a lot of on-screen time.

In response, JLR has produced a themed variant that’s almost as much fun as a Bond flick. It uses the longer body style Defender, and comes in a satiny-finished shade of black that’s enhanced by Land Rover’s Extended Black Pack option; the shadowy look is uninterrupted in the vehicle’s exterior but for the SUV’s front brake calipers decorating the glossy 22-inch rims.

007 is featured heavily throughout, of course, and the Secret Agent Man number of our man Bond pops up in badging, light-up sills and elsewhere. The special edition Defender V8 will also prominently feature the words ‘Bespoke: One of 300’ in the cabin—that’s right, only 300 will be made.

The reveal of the Defender V8 Bond Edition precedes the opening of the film by about two months. The movie had been set to open earlier this year, but release was delayed by the health crisis. Even Bond needs his shots, it turns out. He got ’em, and he’s back on the job.
