Will Arnett is the new owner of a striking contemporary home in Beverly Hills. The comic actor plunked down a stout $16.4 million to be the first owner of the 10,300 sq. ft. property.
The seven-bedroom, eight-bath house is accessed through a set of wood gates, and features an exterior that is stark but warm through the use of understated, unfussy line, black steel-framed windows and doors, masonry, and bleached wood cladding.
If the house recalls a style, it is probably that of a 1970s contemporary; the quick-growing green worked into the architecture in the tween-floor line adds an element of the idealized naturalism that was incorporated into modern designs during the era. The house riffs on green, with sustainable materials used, a ‘Zen’ garden bringing interior/exterior landscaping into the living style, and a turf back yard.
Interior details include extensive use of bleached wood, as well as concrete accents, a bit of industrial, and natural stone; the counter-to-ceiling backsplash in the kitchen is a deusey, and it is juxtaposed with a vent hood in a patina-enriched steel that looks a little steampunk.
Amenities of this property include a theater, wet bar, and a large master suite with all the trimmings; outdoor living areas and details include second-level terraces overlooking the saltwater pool and spa, and fire features.
Arnett lends his voice to the upcoming computer-animated film Rumble, with Terry Crews, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, and Tony Danza.
