Retired tennis pro Ivan Lendl hefted his Connecticut estate onto the market with a $16.45 million ask. Lendl—one of the great players of the sport—has owned the property for nearly three decades. He had the property custom built; it was completed in 1992.
The Georgian home fits right into its neighborhood; it is located in Cornwall, and features a limestone exterior. Its interiors offer subtle warmth and an understated beauty; individual spaces that catch the eye include the library, with floor-to-ceiling built-in bookshelves decorated with dentil moldings, a fireplace, and hardwood paneling. Amenities include a children’s library, an indoor pool and workout complex that includes a full-sized gym and a sauna, and a master suite with private sitting room.
But the mansion’s interiors are only a small part of the story. This property’s grounds extend to 450 acres, and include equestrian facilities—paddocks and barn—as well as a gunite pool with cabana, tennis court, and additional court.
Lendl won eight Grand Slam singles titles and took home a total of 94 singles titles over his career (a further six doubles titles makes for an even 100 trophies). He held the number one spot in the singles rankings for 270 weeks.
