It’s been about a year on the nose since Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford first listed their Southern Californian charmer. This month finds the 1959-built house in Trousdale Estates off-market; it changed hands this month for $13.5 million. The buyer? Bon vivant and noted Porsche fan Jan Koum, who happens to be the neighbor. The WhatsApp founder purchased his compound there from Jeffrey Katzenberg last year for $125 million, and apparently decided that a little more breathing room couldn’t hurt.

Crawford and Gerber picked up the property back in the late summer of 2017. The seller was OneRepublic lead singer Ryan Tedder, who accepted Crawford and Gerber’s bid of $11.6 million for the midcentury modern. Tedder had owned the home for about four years before the supermodel and nightlife specialist came along.

The 5,385 sq. ft. home has been renovated extensively but sensitively. Its indoor/outdoor lifestyle design is a winning one, blurring the demarcation between the shared interior spaces and the intensely atmospheric and thoroughly escapist pool and patio area that is the property’s most appealing feature.

Accommodations on the property include five bedrooms, including a master with a private sitting area. It also receives one of the home’s several private terraces. The acre of grounds is landscaped in a lush style, enhancing the lounge-like outdoor space.

Koum’s refined palate for residential properties also drove a pair of judicious purchases in Malibu in the recent past; a Gwathmey-designed trophy for $100 million, and another architectural—next-door—for $87 million.

Koum’s net worth is north of $10 billion, according to Forbes.
