Bentley’s Flying Spur Hybrid got a bit of additional exposure this summer with a special launch edition. The limited production design is called the Odyssean, and it brings together the transitional hybrid powertrain design with a turnkey customization treatment that has broad-spectrum appeal.

Bentley’s intention is that the Odyssean be representative of this decade’s auto design, which also promises to be transitional. The car’s materials are evidence of its symbolic place in the Bentley pantheon, and include tweed made from British wool for upholstery. That’s not the first time Bentley has brought tweed into the picture for automotive design; in April of this year, the company took the wraps off its 2022 Continental GT Speed Convertible, which features a soft top in the inimitably classy and water-resistant natural textile.

Other features of the Odyssean: 21-inch wheels ten twin-spoke wheels, ‘Pale Brodgar’ painted accents, special badging and treadplates, and the console’s ‘Piano Linen’ veneer finish, which Bentley’s press release on the variant informs has never appeared in a Bentley — or, we assume, any other car — before.
