Media powerhouse Oprah Winfrey recently sold her retreat in Washington State this summer, according to The Puget Sound Business Journal. The transaction was conducted off-market.

The cultural arbiter and businesswoman accepted an offer of $14 million for the estate she purchased in 2018 for $8.28 million. The sale represented a nearly $6 million profit.

The getaway compound spans over 40 acres, and has been titled Madron Eagle. Its main house is a four-bedroom, five-bath wilderness lodge that fits in very well with its landscape, echoing the lush temperate flora of the Puget Sound area. Located on a promontory overlooking East Sound on Orcas Island amid the San Juan archipelago, the property is surrounded by forest.

The home’s interiors are earthy and substantial, with exposed beams and ceiling trussing, hand-worked iron, and reclaimed timber and doors. Among the more striking craftsmanship details is the curving staircase in the wood-heavy great room.

Amenities in the house make for a long list which includes a library, a kitchen with a wood-fired pizza oven, a screening room, and a music studio. A shuffleboard court hints at pre-screen summertime recreation.

Highlights of the outdoor living area and landscaping include nature trails, beach frontage, an Asian garden, a pond, and a babbling brook.

Winfrey’s current engagements with Apple TV+ include Oprah’s Book Club, Oprah Talks COVID-19, The Oprah Conversation, and the upcoming Oprah Winfrey Documentary. Her net worth is around $2.7 billion, according to Forbes.
