Actress and native Manhattanite Cynthia Nixon is the new owner of this character-rich Midtown Gotham townhouse. The property changed hands this month for $4.4 million, giving the Sex and the City cast member a new place to hang her hat.

The Kips Bay residence’s 3,984 sq. ft. of living space spans five levels, including a finished basement. Its first floor includes a recessed patio with red brick steps rising to a ground-level outdoor living area. The recessed patio extends from a highlight of the residence: a sunken living room that is illuminated by a wall of glass and ornamented with a brick fireplace accent wall that’s been given a coat of white paint.

The townhouse continues with a master suite and guest bedroom on the second floor. The upper floors both contain two bedrooms and dedicated living areas and kitchens, as well as dedicated wood-burning fireplaces, making the converted building an ideal communal residence to share with family or friends.
