Musician and composer Stewart Copeland invested in the Montecito way of life recently. The former Police band member picked up the 1928-built Spanish-style for $4.75 million early last month, according to Dirt.

A beguiling spot titled Casita de Mariposa, the little estate was marketed as a fixer-upper. Good news for an artist, as the period details are intact, and a short investment in sprucing should do the trick. Some of the more appealing details include the raw plank kitchen ceiling, narrow-plank hardwood — glossy, which is nice to see — fireplaces, judicious cool-tone use to balance out the warm wood, and louvered doors and windows.

The gem of the home is surely the master bedroom. A tasteful Southwestern-tinged fantasy, it’s got a vaulted ceiling with exposed wood, a bit ’o moss green, and a rounded fireplace that’s a peach. The indoor/outdoor lounge is a close second; it sports a terra-cotta tile floor and a barrel-shaped French doors-and-windows installation opening onto the outdoor pool and patio area.

The Police has released five studio albums and sold over 100 million records worldwide. The band’s last album, 1983’s Synchronicity, reached the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart.
