Crime fiction writer Michael Connelly—who created the enduring private detective Harry Bosch—will be moving into Malibu this summer. The hard-boiled scribbler picked up a beachfront pad in the surfside city last month. He spent $8.65 million for the keys.
The unassuming, overgrown beach cottage was built in 1970, but shows signs of recent renovation. It features sliding glass on both floors for balcony access, and an outdoor staircase for sand access. It contains three bedrooms and four baths.
Interiors in this home are unadorned but for stained wide plank hardwood and exposed ceiling timber. The kitchen is an ethereal nook, with snow-white cabinetry countertops and subway tile. The setting is the décor, with views outside the sliding glass doors and oversized windows providing the living style.
A small and very private courtyard puts the finishing touch on this beach house. It features a stone water feature and a tile floor.
Connelly’s novels have sold over 80 million copies and have inspired police procedural television series Bosch. His upcoming release is titled The Dark Hours and will be available later this year.
