Senator Dianne Feinstein and financier husband Richard Blum listed their retreat on Lake Tahoe this summer. The couple is is asking $41 million for the waterfront estate, a 4.75-acre slice of temperate Elysium anchored by Craftsman-tinged lodge; two additional houses on the property bring the total interior space to 10,343 sq. ft.
According to public records, the property’s construction dates back to 1937, although extensive but sensitive renovations have been conducted inside and out. There’s a lot of wood to express the rustic living style, including pine walls and ceilings. The centerpiece of the common areas is a majestic stacked stone fireplace accent wall with a raised hearth.
Amenities inside the main house include a game room, a library, and a great room. A deck overlooks the blue water of the lake, but the acreage allows plenty of room for meandering footpaths, a pavilion with a stone patio inset with a fire feature, and 278 feet of sandy beach.
