For 2022, Jaguar has given the I-Pace crossover EV substantial tech updates that include a fast-charging time improvement. It’s also given the I-Pace a variant designation, HSE, that indicates a performance version could be just down the road a piece.
The I-Pace has come a long way since it first appeared in concept form in 2016, but although its form—which reconciles crossover and sedan styles very nicely—has been refined over the years, the model’s pretty, Ian Callum-designed shape has remained quite consistent.
No need to tinker with the attractiveness, therefore, but the company reduced charging time over the 2021 version by adding an 11-kW charger, which can add 63 miles to the ‘fuel tank’ in 15 minutes. That’s a big boost from the 2021 iteration’s 39 miles in 15 minutes. The car’s power ratings have remained stable, with 2022’s numbers coming in at 394 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque.
Inside the cabin, the look and operation of the car have been given a brush-up. For U.S. buyers, the key new feature is a navigation system that highlights EV charging stations along the planned journey. The new navigation is part and parcel of Pivo Pro, introduced last year; like other JLR offerings of late, the 2022 I-Pace will come with this new system for a simplified infotainment, driver info, and comfort control experience.
Jaguar prices the 2022 I-Pace HSE at $69,900 to start.
