Conjuring visions of 911s of yesteryear, the 2022 Porsche GT3 with Touring Package variant of the venerable and enduring series looks subtly evocative: its wingless design restores the back-end slope to its former glory.

No surprise. A quick jaunt to the Porsche pressroom and the design orientation is revealed, and it harkens back to 1973, when the ‘Touring Package’ designation was first used on a Carrera RS. It also reprises the Carrera T that showed up in 2017 for the 2018 model year.

The 2022 911 GT3 with Touring Package can come with a six-speed manual gearbox, which also reminds of the Carrera T of the last decade—although the 2018 Carrera T came with the feature standard, and for this 911 variant it is a ‘no-cost option’ that can be ordered. Otherwise, the 2022 911 GT3 with Touring Package comes with the PDK.

Though the wing is absent, Porsche did design a compromise to improve downforce at higher speeds. A spoiler goes into action when needed, extending from the body. Cosmetic touches on the exterior include a front fascia in the body paint color, and glossy anodized aluminum strips on the windows. Inside the Touring Package GT3: an understated, classic look with black leather and aluminum trim and Porsche Crests. Inside and out, ‘GT3 Touring’ badging is featured.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 4L flat-six engine pumping out 502 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque.

A dedicated Porsche Design chronograph timepiece is available for GT3 Touring Package buyers. Deliveries are set to begin early next year, with a base sticker of $162.450, excluding fees and watches.
