Olympic Gold Medalist Tara Lipinski waved goodbye to $8.35 million in order to close on this contemporary farmhouse in Pacific Palisades. The professional skater’s new warm-weather property comes with six bedrooms and eight baths, and measures 6,779 sq. ft. It was completed this year, making Lipinski the first owner.
The exterior features that define the home encapsulate the style, which is so popular at present. A mix of gray and white, with natural-toned wood accents arranged in a fetching pattern for contrast; in this case, the additional textural elements of whitewashed masonry and vertical clapboard are used.
Inside the house, the longitudinal lines are picked up in the kitchen cabinetry and island, the living room walls, and the dining room’s niche built-in. The ceilings in the living area and master bedroom are accented with herringbone plank to echo the floor of the living room; the dining room’s ceiling is enhanced with a rustic coffered effect by way of reclaimed timber. A bit of thought went into this one, and it comes off well.
The .3-acre lot is largely occupied by the pool area in back. Grassy areas and a pergola-covered outdoor living area serviced by a grill with bar seating also feature, with the whole hemmed in nicely with retaining walls.
Lipinski is the 1997 U.S. national champion and world champion. She took gold at the Olympics, held in Nagano, in 1998. She also took gold at the Champions Series Final in 1997 and 1998.
