New to the residential stable of Ellen DeGeneres’ real estate portfolio is this charming two-and-two modern in Montecito. The property is closer to the water from Rancho San Leandro, the historic ranch DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi recently re-acquired, and might either be a flip opportunity for the couple, or a long-term retreat near the beach. It changed hands for $2.9 million.

The 1954-built house sits on a .44-acre lot, a generous little slice that enhances the living style greatly. The single floor layout allows for vaulted ceilings throughout. The home’s interiors also feature a host of carefully-designed and thought-out features and details, including wood-framed fold-away and sliding glass doors, tile floors, and a clean-lined modern fireplace.

The outdoor living area is a courtyard that is quite large for a home this size. It features a water feature and a fire pit. But much of the property is given over to lawn, and landscaping that includes fruit trees and mature specimen plantings.

The recent real estate adventures of DeGeneres and de Rossi include the purchasing of Dennis Miller’s estate — also in Montecito, where the duo appears to be most active — for which they paid $49 million. In March, the couple listed the Beverly Hills estate they purchased from musician Adam Levine a couple of years before, asking $53.5 million; the property sold in April for $47 million.
