Classical-pop crossover singer Sarah Brightman’s Cape Cod-style bungalow in greater Los Angeles popped up for sale this spring with a $3.6 million price tag. The nifty little compound in Santa Monica, which immediately attracted an offer, boasts 3,000 sq. ft. of interior living area across a main house, guest house, and cabana, with four bedrooms and four baths throughout the property.
The 1947-built house packs in some early modernism, and plenty of post-war optimism. The centerpiece of the living area is a large masonry accent wall inset with a linear fireplace; accent walls of built-in shelves flank the entrance, and also help break up the otherwise open shared space. Semi-vaulted ceilings, paned casements, and French doors also figure into the living style.
The guest house and cabana positioned across the stone patio in the back of the charmingly self-contained property, which also features a little meditation garden outside the master bedroom’s sliding glass door.
Brightman’s albums have sold over 25 million copies. Her most recent studio release is 2018’s Hymn.
