Retired MLB catcher and manager of the Italian national team Mike Piazza sold this waterfront residence in Miami Beach this spring.
It was a long inning for the Hall of Fame player, who had been trying to sell the home since at least 2017. So the offer of $15 million was welcome, and perhaps more welcome still in light of the fact that the property’s ask had dropped down to $14.8 million by last summer.
The 9,438 sq. ft., eight-bedroom property overlooks Biscayne Bay, with 100 feet of deep-water frontage for yacht accommodation; it features a dock and boat lift. The main house and two-bedroom guest house are designed with inspiration from Tuscan architecture, and boast top-flight materials including floors of Jerusalem stone.
Amenities in this home include a library and entertainment center. But the real draw is the terrace overlooking the water, which is inset with a spa and water features, and drops to a pool at ground level at the bottom of a double stone staircase.
