Actor Jonah Hill acquired this water-view desert modern in Malibu this spring. The two-time Academy Award-nominated thespian added the 3,653 sq. ft. home to his investment portfolio for a cool $9 million, according to Dirt. Nine is apparently a comfortable number for Hill; he spent the same amount on a Manhattan condo in 2016. Back on the West Coast, he picked up a charming Santa Monica spread in 2019 for $6.8 million.
The latest real estate addition should still be cause for excitement. The mix of modern and pueblo styles makes for a façade with a windswept appearance. Inside, the house features a main living area dominated by a great room with a soaring ceiling; a second-level overlook with a glass balustrade overlooks the first-floor goings-on, while two levels of windows in the home’s front-facing exterior wall illuminate. Simple floating steel shelves, chandeliers in a mix of styles, and a barn door or two are also visible.
Flooring appears to be white-painted masonry, and it extends from the shared spaces into the home’s four bedrooms and four baths. The bedrooms, even the master, are paragons of meditative simplicity, with the owner’s receiving a fireplace for warmth and ornament, as well as a private balcony; one of the en-suite baths features a dry sauna, another a steam room.
Shared outdoor living spaces include a roof-top terrace, a small courtyard, and a tiered deck in the backyard with an outdoor kitchen and bar. A pool and well-groomed privacy hedges at the property borders completes this unique architectural statement in the Malibu Colony.
Hill’s upcoming projects include Netflix’s star-studded black comedy Don’t Look Up, with Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett, Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Tyler Perry, Ron Perlman, and Chris Evans.
