Back in the spring of 2019, Alkiviades ‘Alki’ David picked up one of the more interesting waterfront homes on the beach of Malibu Colony. The right-brained 1974-built beach house tickled the Greek scion out of $19.1 million at the time, but the time has apparently come to either cash in a flip or move on from a whim. And so back onto the open market goes the 4,200 square-footer, this time at $28.5 million.
The long sliver of a lot allows for a long driveway and an atmospheric courtyard garden, and a guest house at a fair remove from the 3,847 sq. ft. main house, which features a mix of modern and Mediterranean styles. Inside, the living spaces are sheathed in wood, with tile, natural stone and skylights adding dimensions to the visuals and the overall living style.
Renovations conducted during David’s ownership tenure may well include the flashy master bath sink and soaking tub; the former now in rose quartz, the latter given a gilt treatment. As it stands, the home is now at least partially solar-powered.
The home’s beachside outdoor living area is decorated with the work of controversial street artist Alec Monopoly, who has artfully turned a minor comic theme into a very lucrative career. The witty hedge-betting has him laughing all the way to the bank; not only that, he was wearing a face mask before it became fashionable.
David’s net worth is reportedly around $3 billion.
