Singer/songwriter Halsey’s newest Los Angeles-area property acquisition required a $10.2 million investment. The five-bedroom, 1991-built Spanish-style in Calabasas went to its new owner last winter, making it a singer-to-singer transaction, according to Dirt: the seller of the 9,700 square-foot, 5-acre estate was One Direction vocalist Liam Payne.
In the wake of the purchase, Halsey has listed her midcentury modern in Sherman Oaks. The songstress purchased the 2,425 sq. ft. pad in the summer of 2019. The Richard Dorman-designed house dates to 1959, and contains four bedrooms and three baths. It is currently listed at 2.795 million.
The home’s details make it something of a time-capsule: exposed steel, support posts, a masonry fireplace, and terrazzo floors are among the highlights of this atmospheric spot. The exterior is a mix of glass and steel; the plank embellishments that warm up the first impression outside are picked up in the tongue-and-groove ceilings in the main living area and elsewhere.
A look at the home’s individual spaces reveals a galley kitchen and a meditatively unadorned master bedroom with ebony-finished plank and a vaguely Japanese-inspired feel; glass walls open up the room to the outdoor pool area, patio and lawn, which occupies much of the .44-acre lot — along with a detached structure currently in use as a recording studio.
Halsey has released three studio albums, topping the Billboard 200 chart once and peaking at number two twice. Her most recent studio album is last year’s Manic.
