In need of a dust-up but not quite approaching generational obsolescence, the upcoming mid-cycle sprucing of the Mercedes-Benz CLS will focus on visuals and interior features. The engine model, mild-hybrid setup and horsepower and torque ratings remain constant, and performance features appear to by and large transfer from 2021 to 2022. So what’s in store?
Interior tech is tops on the list of changes. Heading up the cabin cosmetics for 2022 are fancy-dress options from Mercedes-Benz’s Manufaktur customization division, with trim and upholstery choices expanded. Tech includes a Nappa leather steering wheel with capacitive sensors for semi-autonomous driving, as well as latest-gen MBUX with AI-assisted language and keyword interface.
Outside, the 2022 CLS boasts new air intakes, side louvers and silver chrome front splitter. A new rear bumper is given some flash with a chrome strip. New paint colors are also available.
