HGTV Star Christina Haack Offering Chic Newport Beach Home for $5.5M

Christina Haack is the seller of this slick contemporary traditional in Southern California. The co-host of HGTV’s Flip or Flop and solo host of Christina on the Coast listed her five-bedroom, five-bath home in Newport Beach at the beginning of this month for $6 million, and promptly reduced the ask to $5.5 million a few days later. Public records indicate the property was purchased in the spring of 2018.

The postmodern California amalgam riffs on all kinds of styles; the roof lantern is borrowed from coastal Northeastern U.S. traditional, but there are also modern farmhouse elements to be seen. Further, a look at the nuts-and-bolts ceiling trussing and skylights of the living room suggests barn in no uncertain terms, and there’s a bit of industrial at work, too, as a glance at the kitchen will confirm.

A melting pot, then, and one that works. The living room is a paragon of liberation, a wide open space with enough room to play Frisbee. Haack’s contributions are too numerous to detail individually, but they include the foyer’s chandeliers—a trio of planetary sketches—and the kitchen’s decking-out of slab marble, tile, and heavy-duty stainless. The master suite is a little design coup all by itself.

Outside, a large freeform pool with a raised covered spa is the centerpiece, although the step-up terrace with covered outdoor kitchen, bar and dining area is a close second, and perhaps more eminently usable.

Last year, Haack launched a furniture line called Christina @ Home in partnership with Spectra Home Furniture.
