Ted Sarandos, Neflix’s CEO and programming fashion prognosticator, is the owner behind the open market appearance of this four-bedroom, 3,763 sq. ft. Malibu beachfront home.
It was only a few years ago that Sarandos bought and then sold a Venice-inspired three-level 4,636 square-footer located along the Encinal Bluffs, and above El Sol Beach. The purchase happened in 2017, with the sale following about a year later; $20 million out, and $21.3 million back in as Sarandos tripped the light fantastic along a period of real estate restlessness.
The home at issue presently is located directly on La Costa Beach. It sits on a 60’-wide lot—not bad for such a popular stretch of sand—and is priced at $14.9 million. It features a top-floor suite with a fireplace, and a creative workplace and sitting room.
The first level features a dining and living area overlooking the water—the space also opens up to one of the outdoor decks—and a pair of living and sitting rooms with fireplaces set nearer to the front of the house. The day room, which is nestled between the indoor living area and the deck, is a nice touch, and so is the turret staircase.
Between the street and the front entrance, the property works in a secluded little tiled courtyard with a pergola-covered sitting area and a wet bar.
Sarandos’ recent real estate acquisitions include a lulu: a Montecito estate which came by way of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. The Netflix chief purchased the property in the high summer of 2018; it had been priced at $34 million prior to the sale.
