The late summer and early autumn of 2020 found Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom buying a Spanish-style estate in Montecito for $14.2 million, and Perry listing her 1950’s traditional in the Hidden Valley community—which is located in Beverly Hills Post Office—for $8 million.
Comfortably ensconced in the warmth of the 1930’s villa and the Montecito climate, the singer is more aggressively marketing the Hidden Valley residence this spring. The property returned to the open market recently, priced at $7.7 million.
The 4,410 sq. ft. home sits on a lot which measures in at nearly an acre. The little estate occupies a comfortably secluded corner of the community, and it is beautifully framed in a forest-like border of mature trees, hedges and other plantings, with a tasteful, oval-shaped pool, a large, shaded patio, a hedge-bordered lawn, and a water feature.
The four-bedroom, five-bath house begins with a deeply-recessed double-door entry and a red brick walk. Interiors are bright, airy, relaxed and open, with white paint, oak floors and superb room-to-room flow in the shared living areas. A set of French doors stands between the kitchen/dayroom—which features a fireplace—and the dining room, which is pleasantly optimistic, and may be enhanced by opening the broad set of glass doors that open onto the patio.
The bedrooms include a second-floor suite with a small anteroom purposed as a small yoga studio; it occupies the rear of the two top-floor termini in the design. The other similar space is currently set up as an office, but could probably be converted to another bedroom or suite.
The property was apparently purchased by Perry as an investment, or a guest house to augment her larger estate in Beverly Crest’s Coldwater Canyon neighborhood. Perry picked up that property in 2017 to the tune of about $18 million.
Perry has sold over 140 million records worldwide. Her most recent studio album is 2020’s Smile.
