The 2022 Bentley Continental GT Speed is rushing to a metropolitan dealership near you. It comes with a small power boost and some improvements in simple performance numbers, but the real benefit of the newest model year is its increased response potential.

And dash it can—a 24-horsepower boost to the W12 and a performance calibration revision of the eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox in Sport mode helps give the heavyweight touring car a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds. The car’s top speed is 208 mph for 2022. Nominal increases both over its non-Speed brethren, which clocks 3.6 seconds and 207 mph in the aforementioned metrics, but the story falls more in the category of performance.

More revealing is the fact that the 2022 version of the Continental GT Speed gains four-wheel steering, adjusted stability control, and electronic torque-vectoring differential. The gross weight of a Continental is over three tons, and the changes make the big touring car more dexterous in action; as a model engineered to reconcile touring car and sports car driving experiences, it may be the current blue ribbon winner. New carbon-ceramic brakes are also featured on the 2022 Continental GT Speed.

Large 22-inch wheels are standard on the variant; other cosmetic changes include its shadow-tinted grille. ‘Speed’ is featured prominently throughout the car, including on the doors sills, dash and front. The presence of the car’s W12 engine is highlighted by the ‘12’ badging on the side vents. Bentley’s Diamond-pattern quilted upholstery is standard, as per usual.

Deliveries begin in the second half of the year.
