The alpine estate of actor Tom Cruise is back on the market this month. The property last appeared in 2014, when it was priced at $59 million. At $39 million, the Colorado retreat may well find a buyer quickly.
The property occupies a 320-acre niche in Telluride. According to the Wall Street Journal, the luxury real estate market in the Rocky Mountain resort city is booming a new gold rush, with city-dweller transplants moving into town en masse.
The 2014 listing photos showed the property to great effect—it hit the market in October, and autumn in Telluride, with its surfeit of splendid scenery, was a painterly backdrop for the luxuriously expansive and versatile estate. But the property went off the market without seeing sale or price cut. A listing agent quoted by the Wall Street Journal opined that Cruise wasn’t quite ready to part ways with it, so he may’ve been testing the waters.
Coming in at a mile in length, the driveway presages the scale of the estate. The remoteness of the spot is magnified by the federally owned lands that surround it, and all in all this is a getaway property for the active sort, with miles of hiking trails.
The main house on the property was custom built for Cruise. It measures about 10,000 sq. ft., and features plentiful stone and cedar in its build. The main living area is anchored by a majestic stone fireplace, one of many in the home. A three-bedroom guest house completes a first look at an extraordinary opportunity in Telluride.
Cruise’s films have grossed over $10 billion worldwide. His upcoming projects include Top Gun: Maverick, due out in July, and Mission: Impossible 7, scheduled for release in November.
