Fresh from the January sale of his $7 million traditional in Manhattan Beach, California, sports commentator Colin Cowherd set his sights on an East Coast fantasy in Los Angeles. Cowherd closed on the home this month; according to public records, the property sold for $6.9 million.

Other Cowherd-purchased homes in Southern California have the same streak of homey traditionalism. This one is something of an idealized vision of a Long Island or Cape Cod summer house, with its particular brand of friendly eccentricity expressed in a semi-octagonal turret capped with a cupola, stone chimneys, casement windows, lantern sconces, a garage with barn doors, a deeply recessed entryway, and a color scheme of white on gray.

The 6,713 sq. ft. house contains five bedrooms and six baths, and details such as hardwood floors—plank or chevron-pattern—marble fireplaces, exposed beams, arched entries, soft gray tones, and a two-landing staircase. Amenities include a wine room, sun room, and game room. The .27-acre lot is filled out with private gardens—landscaped to echo the Northeast summer cottage ideal—and a pool.
