Actress Lena Dunham put this charming—and dignified—bungalow in Los Angeles up for sale toward the end of last month. The 1919-built home didn’t linger on the market; listed at $2.795 million, it went into pending status in a hurry.
The 2,457 sq. ft. home features an interesting amalgam of details in its façade: a prominent neoclassical pediment inset with a frieze, a covered porch, and craftsman windows. Inside, the home boasts a fireplace with a red brick surround—echoing the outdoor staircases front and back—a welcome dash of warmth in what is otherwise a blazing white treatment: walls, ceilings, and kitchen tile. In one of the baths, another original detail: built-in storage with marble caps.
The studio guest house may well outpace the main house for beguiling atmosphere; the open ladder staircase and stairwell skylight lead to the sleeping loft, which boasts a concept ceiling and a single casement window.
Dunham is producing the soon-to-premiere HBO Max series Generation.
