Tyra Banks Picks Up Beachfront Malibu Home for $4.7M

Tyra Banks’ newest acquisition is a Malibu oceanfront; she recently paid $4.7 million and change for it.

A postmodern villa dating to the early 1980s, the home’s grid-like decorative lattice and skeletal riffs on roof light designs echo postmodern trends from its build era: industrial-inspired playful riffs, with soft green accents against a warm stucco exterior that suggests Mediterranean style. It contains four bedrooms and four baths in its 4,089 sq. ft.

Streetside is an entry courtyard; the long recessed entryway is floored in Saltillo, and the Mediterranean slash modern influence is driven home by two flourishes near the front door: a block glass window and an ornate Italian-style wall-mount fountain.

The home’s interiors follow suit: Saltillo tile floors, Italianate accents, industrial columns and rails, long modern lines. The living spaces carry the romantic airiness of a Riviera villa, with the great room and roof light-illuminated stairwell especially appealing for lovers of intense warmth and breezy, casual sophistication.

Banks seems to be quite fond of Southern California real estate. Back 2018, she sold two residences in Pacific Palisades, a 2014 build which she sold for $4 million in September, and a promontory beauty from the 1950s which she sold for $8.9 million about two months earlier.
