Comic writer and actor Kevin James—of sitcom The King of Queens and, more recently, blood-soaked revenge feature Becky—recently picked up this large contemporary villa in Delray Beach, Florida, for $14 million.
James had previously owned a similarly sizable estate in Delray Beach which he listed for $28.85 million back in 2016. That property, a ~20,000 sq. ft. mansion on three acres, sold for somewhere in the neighborhood of $26 million, turning a tidy profit; James purchased the place for $19 million about four years prior, according to public records.
James’ new Delray property is an oceanfront, just like his previous home in the city. The main house measures 11,500 sq. ft. across three levels, and contains six bedrooms and at least eight baths. It was thoroughly revised by Randall Stofft Architects, and now features a façade that riffs on Caribbean Colonial style, with balcony balustrade designs borrowed directly from period examples.
The estate’s compensations are easy to see. It’s heavy on the luxury amenities, with a billiards room, a wet bar, an elevator, a master bedroom with a fireplace and multiple sets of French doors opening to a beachfront balcony, and an attached guest house among them. The outdoor living spaces add great deal of living space to the whole; patio, terraces and balconies, a semi-courtyard pool area with loggias, and a covered living area with a BBQ bar topping the list.
James’ upcoming projects include comedy series The Crew.
