The last time we heard from singer Kelly Clarkson, she was marketing her 2018-built contemporary farmhouse in Encino with a $10 million asking price. That home is back this winter with a price cut that takes the ask down to $8.995 million. That’s a bit near the knuckle for the crossover star; she picked it up in 2018 for $8.5 million.
Truth be told, the fact that the towering timber-and-stucco house hasn’t sold is something of a mystery. The contemporary farmhouse remains a hot architectural style, and hardly a week goes by that a new build using the singular mix of modern and rustic design elements doesn’t get snapped up by some well-heeled celeb. And Encino is a popular destination to call home—or at least to call a good investment opportunity; half an acre in the Royal Oaks community should seal the deal.
The home’s exterior is rife with reclaimed timber, and the plentiful glass—including retractable walls—that tickle the tastes of present-tense home buyers. Inside, it offers the open-concept common area and the odyssey of pattern and texture desired. High-pitched beams amp up the rusticity in the master bedroom—one of eight in the home—while a fireplace and lounge expand the warmth and sense of scale.
Amenities include a gym and a home theater. A detached two-story guest house augments the accommodations of this stylized turnkey estate in one of the best communities in the San Fernando Valley.
Clarkson’s much remarked-upon 20,000 sq. ft. riverfront mansion in Hendersonville, Tennessee, remains on the market. The gated four-acre estate is currently asking $6.95 million, down from an initial ask of $8.8 million.
Clarkson has sold over 25 million albums and 45 million singles worldwide. Her Las Vegas residency was supposed to kick off in 2020 but was postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic.
