Back in March of 2018, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal paid $1.8 million for a property in Bell Canyon—a far-flung, horse-friendly, gated burgh located north of Calabasas, in Ventura County. Big Shaq didn’t hold onto the place for terribly long, and this winter sold it for $1.85 million.
O’Neal had hoped for $2.5 million when he initially listed the property just before Thanksgiving 2019, and stuck to his guns for months before levying a price chop the following spring. But it was not to be, and the house was listed at a shadow under $2 million prior to the recent closing.
The 1990-built house sits on an acre of hillside land, and features exterior architecture inspired by European country homes. A stone turret entry and semi-exposed timbers help express the house in front, while the rear features a large second-floor balcony. The 5,217 sq. ft. of interiors boast five bedrooms and five baths, and ornamental touches that include exposed beams in the living room and distressed hardwood upstairs.
The outdoor living area sports a freeform pool, a patio with a BBQ bar, and a fire pit in a very private layout.
