This winter has found Patrick Schwarzenegger in a house-buying mood. The actor selected a postmodern home for his new investment, and paid $4.385 million for it.

The house is a recent build in the modern farmhouse style. This particular example features an exterior partially clad in timber, and a mix of design influences that combines the stylistic foundation with Japanese and Craftsman elements. The streetside impression is one that balances warmth and refinement very well.

The 5,366 square-footer contains five bedrooms and six baths. Interiors are packed with natural-toned wood—floors, walls, surrounds and staircase—and feature some of the dazzle expected in a house of this class, including a bookmatched natural stone fireplace accent wall in the living room.

The home’s indoor-outdoor living style is achieved with Fleetwood doors, which open onto a suitably secluded backyard living area. A pool, spa and water features are outdoor amenities; within, a media/screening room and a wet bar draw the eye.
